This year has been a weird year for us all and chances are you’re feeling a mix of emotions. This is a great time to pick up some new hobbies that you can easily do from home. With talks of second waves hitting around the world, it’s probably going to be quite a while until we return to a new “normal” and as such, we need to get creative with ways to keep ourselves busy. Here are 4 fun hobbies to take up in 2020, that you can easily do from home!

1. Arts and Crafts
There’s nothing quite like setting up a fresh canvas and making something new from nothing! I like to put on some relaxing music and just see where my mind takes me. I’m not particularly talented with painting, but I find it so enjoyable. You can explore other mediums too, such as drawing, oil paints, and even charcoal. If you have children, why not get them involved and enjoy some projects together? If you feel like you’re not such an artist, an easier route to get back into arts and crafts can be adult coloring in books. There are so many great options to choose from and many people enjoy the extra guidance they provide, allowing you to just relax and colour in.

2. Gaming
From a young age most of us are fascinated by games, whether in person or online. If you live alone, then board games might not be the best option for you right now, but thankfully there are so many fun games available online. With travel being on hold for the moment, you might be missing the casinos, but don’t worry there are options online too. If you enjoy the casino, then chances are you’re going to love jackpot casino online. Not only is it a fun way to pass the time, but you also have a chance to win really big!

3. Health and Fitness
I’ve noticed that I’m so much less active now with everything operating with reduced hours or closed. This means that I have to make more of a conscious effort to actually get out there and move my body. If you don’t already have a fitness routine in place, there’s no better time than now. Thanks to websites like Youtube you can easily find lots of at-home body work outs for free. There are also a bunch of fitness related apps that can help you get into shape, some of them are free and others have a small fee. I’ve also noticed with all the extra time at home I’m stress snacking and if you’ve found the same, a little extra fitness is a great way to try to combat the quarantine weight gain.

4. Learn Another Language

If you’ve always wanted to learn another language, there’s no better time than now. You can find an app to help you with basic grammar and structure. One of my favourite apps to get started is Duolingo, and I’ve used it to pick up some Spanish vocabulary. Maybe you could even spend this time to look for a language exchange partner, in order to be able to swap language classes with each other. Find someone who wants to learn English or your native language and you can spend half the time speaking in your language and half the time speaking in theirs. You can also pick up private language learning classes online with a teacher from a website like italki.com, allowing you to practice your chosen language no matter what’s going on outside.

Moving forward with some new hobbies for 2020 will ensure that you feel positive about the year. It will also help you from being bored during these uncertain times. Let me know in the comments below if you’re picking up any new hobbies for the year, I’d love to hear what you have in mind!
